Texas State Bobcats Football Bowl History

The Texas State Bobcats joined the Division I FBS ranks in 2012 and, like many programs making the jump to the highest level of the sport, struggled to have success early. With a fast-growing University in San Marcos, Texas, the program struggled with a revolving door or coaches for a decade, and their original conference affiliation, the WAC, fell apart. But the TSU Bobcats were able to persevere. Landing in the Sun Belt Conference and hiring G. J. Kinne in late 2022 sent the Texas State football program in the right direction as they went 8-5 in gain a berth into the 2023 First Responder Bowl, a bowl game they won 45-21 over Rice. A year later, a 7-5 Bobcats team again played in the First Responder Bowl, this time facing in-state rival North Texas and winning 30-28.
