Over the years the Ohio Bobcats have not exactly been a college football powerhouse as a charter member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). In fact, the Bobcats went nearly 40 years between bowl appearances from their 1968 Tangerine Bowl appearance to the 2007 GMAC Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. But the Bobcats have emerged in recent years under the direction of Frank Solich as Ohio has been in 3 bowl games in 5 years after just 2 bowl appearances prior to Solich's arrival in 2005 with their most recent bowl appearances in the 2009 Little Caesar's Bowl and the 2010 New Orleans Bowl.
