The Cure Bowl is more than just a college football game; it’s an event dedicated to making a difference in the fight against cancer. Held annually in Orlando, Florida, this postseason matchup combines thrilling athletic competition with a commitment to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Since its inception, the Cure Bowl has earned a special place in the college football landscape for its meaningful mission and exciting games.
The Cure Bowl was established in 2015 as part of the NCAA’s growing slate of postseason bowl games. Unlike other bowls, it was created with a specific cause in mind: to support cancer research through a partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). From ticket sales to sponsorships, a portion of the game’s proceeds goes directly toward funding groundbreaking research aimed at finding a cure for breast cancer.
In the past, the Cure Bowl typically featured teams from the Sun Belt Conference and the American Athletic Conference (AAC), but more recent years have seen it pit the MAC and C-USA champions against one another. In fact, during the 2024-2025 bowl season, the Ohio Bobcats win over Jax State Gamecocks was the only bowl game where two conference champions squared off against one another. Memorable Moments
Played at several different venues in and around Orlando, the 2024 Cure Bowl was played at Camping World Stadium, the home of the Citrus Bowl. Known for its world-class attractions and warm climate, the city of Orlando provides an ideal backdrop for fans traveling to enjoy the game. Pre-game festivities, including pep rallies and tailgating events, add to the excitement and create a memorable experience for attendees.
What sets the Cure Bowl apart is its unwavering commitment to its cause. To date, the bowl has contributed millions of dollars to breast cancer research, supporting innovative projects that advance prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The event’s connection to the community is further strengthened through survivor recognition ceremonies, educational initiatives, and opportunities for fans to engage with the mission.
