Ohio Bobcats Football Bowl History

Over the years the Ohio Bobcats have not exactly been a college football powerhouse as a charter member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). In fact, the Bobcats went nearly 40 years between bowl appearances from their 1968 Tangerine Bowl appearance to the 2007 GMAC Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. But the Bobcats emerged under the direction of Frank Solich as Ohio played in 14 bowl games in 18 years from 2006-2024, after just 2 bowl appearances prior to Solich’s arrival in 2005. After 5 straight losses in bowl games to start, the program’s first bowl win came in the 2011 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl when they defeated Utah State 24-23. In 2012 the Bobcats gained an Independence Bowl record 556 yards against Louisiana-Monroe in a 45-14 victory, and with their win in the 2024 Cure Bowl the Bobcats won their 6th straight bowl game to even their bowl record at 8-8.
